This is a driveway replacement job in Seymour, and we're right in the middle of it. Before any new concrete goes down, the old slab has to come out completely. That means breaking it up, hauling it off, and getting the ground underneath ready to support a new pour that will actually hold up long-term.

We used a CAT track loader with a breaker attachment to bust through the old concrete. It's the right tool for a job like this - controlled, efficient, and keeps the work tight to the areas we need without tearing up the surrounding yard or landscaping. Once the slab is broken apart, we move it out and start on the subgrade work.

Here's the thing most people don't think about - the prep under the concrete matters just as much as the pour itself. If the base isn't solid and properly graded, it doesn't matter how good your concrete mix is. You'll get cracking, settling, and the same problems all over again in a few years. We take the time to do it right before forming ever starts.

Site prep on a job like this involves clearing out all the broken material, grading the soil, and getting a clean, level base ready for forming. You can see how much material comes out of a full driveway removal - it's not a small amount. That's why proper equipment and an experienced crew make such a big difference in how smoothly everything moves.

Next up is forming and the pour. The groundwork is done, and everything is set up for a clean, solid new driveway. That's what good prep looks like - and it's the reason the finished product lasts.
